June 18, 2025, at the Hall A\/C Summer Collaboration Meeting held at Jefferson Lab (JLab) in Newport News, Virginia, USA, Dr. Toshiyuki Gogami gave an online presentation introducing the planned hypernuclear spectroscopy program at JLab.<br><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/indico.jlab.org\/event\/944\">https:\/\/indico.jlab.org\/event\/944<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our research aims to extend the conventional understanding of nuclear forces between nucleons to baryon\u2013baryon interactions that include strange quarks, through precision spectroscopy of hypernuclei. Hypernuclei, which contain strange quarks, possess degrees of freedom beyond those of ordinary nuclei, offering a unique window into the fundamental nature of the nuclear force. Furthermore, the insights gained from hypernuclear studies directly contribute to our understanding of extremely dense astrophysical environments such as the interiors of neutron stars. Thus, this research addresses fundamental questions spanning both nuclear physics and astrophysics, contributing to our broader understanding of matter and the evolution of the universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting in 2027, we plan to install a large-acceptance magnetic spectrometer system, HES-HKS, in Hall C at Jefferson Lab and initiate a full-scale hypernuclear spectroscopy program. This ambitious experimental campaign will involve a wide range of nuclear targets from light to heavy mass numbers and will be conducted over approximately two years of data taking. The resulting data will provide critical information for addressing key open questions in hypernuclear physics, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Charge symmetry breaking in hyperon\u2013nucleon interactions,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three-body forces among \u039b hyperons and nucleons,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exploration of triaxially deformed nuclear
