In this meeting, Dr. Gogami and his research team presented their proposal for a new experiment (J-PARC E94), which aims to investigate the charge symmetry breaking (CSB) in the interaction between the Lambda particle and the nucleon. The proposal was reviewed for approval to advance to Stage 2 \u2014 the final status required to carry out the experiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the E94 experiment, an intense beam of charged pions (about five million per spill) produced by the J-PARC accelerator is used to irradiate a nuclear target, creating and studying a special type of nucleus known as a hypernucleus. A hypernucleus contains a strange quark \u2014 a component not found in ordinary nuclei. Because hypernuclei decay extremely quickly (within about 0.2 nanoseconds), their observation and precise measurement require advanced experimental techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this experiment, a positively charged pion beam with a momentum of 1.05 GeV\/c is used to convert a nucleon in the target nucleus into a Lambda hyperon \u2014 a particle containing a strange quark. Simultaneously produced positively charged kaons (K\u207a) are detected with high precision using a new magnetic spectrometer called S-2S, developed mainly by a research group at Kyoto University.<br>This spectrometer achieves an excellent energy resolution of about 1 MeV (FWHM) and a measurement accuracy of 0.1 MeV. The first experiment using S-2S (J-PARC E70) was completed this May. Although data analysis has only just begun, preliminary results suggest that the E94 experiment will also achieve world-class precision in hypernuclear spectroscopy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By performing such high-precision measurements, the E94 experiment aims to shed light on the underlying mechanism of charge symmetry breaking (CSB) in the strong interaction between the Lambda particle and
