Addendum to the 2nd Circular
Dear Colleague,
This is the second circular of the 17th International Spin Physics Symposium,
SPIN 2006 that will be held in Kyoto Japan on October 2 - 7, 2006.
The Symposium will address the broad range of physics and technology related
to spin polarization phenomena.
We would like to invite you to participate the Symposium.
I. Scientific Program
The organizing committee has been formulating the scientific program of
the symposium in communication with the International Advisory Committee.
The overall structure of the scientific program has been established.
The program consists of plenary sessions, parallel sessions and poster sessions.
The plenary talks are formulated with advices from the IAC.
All plenary speakers have been contacted and a few more are to be confirmed.
You can see the current list of the speakers in the “Scientific Program” in
the SPIN2006 web site.
The organizing committee is also producing a list of invited speakers
for parallel sessions.
II. Contributed Paper
As was done in the past, we will try to allocate contributed papers
in the oral sessions as much as possible unless otherwise specified
by the applicants.
We also like to encourage you to use the poster session
for more detailed discussions.
We hope it would help information exchange between experiments,
between theorists and experimentalists.
The abstract of the contributed papers should be submitted
in either MS-Word or PDF format.
Please use our MS-Word template, which can be obtained from our web site:
http://www-nh.scphys.kyoto-u.ac.jp/SPIN2006/Cont-template.doc
The PDF file is also available at
http://www-nh.scphys.kyoto-u.ac.jp/SPIN2006/Cont-template.pdf
just to show you how the format should look like.
The Tex file converted into PDF is also acceptable. Please use "dvipdf"or equivalent to produce a PDF file from a dvi file.
Please indicate the intended parallel sessions in the manuscript. We plan to have parallel sessions for the following topics:
- Fundamental Symmetries and Spin
- Spin Structure of Nucleons
- Spin Beyond the Standard Model
- Spin in Hadronic Reactions
- Spin Physics with Photons and Leptons
- Spin Physics in Nuclei
- Spin Physics with RI Beams
- Acceleration, Storage, and Polarimetry of Polarized Beams
- Polarized Ion and Electron Sources and Targets
- Future Facilities and Experiments.
The MS-Word or PDF file should be sent to
spin06@nh.scphys.kyoto-u.ac.jp
with subject name as follows:
contribution: LASTNAME, Firstname
In addition to the oral sessions, we will have poster session(s), too.
Please indicate your preference of oral presentation and/or
poster presentation in the manuscript.
The deadline of abstract submission is July 8, 2006. We will send a receipt of your message, when the file is successfully printed. Please keep this receipt for future reference.
III. Venue and Organization
The symposium will be held at
Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall.
The hall is located in the Main Campus of the Kyoto University.
You can download
the map of the campus with PDF format.
The Local Organizing Committee and International Advisory Committee are listed below. (The Chairman for the Symposium is Ken-ichi Imai of Kyoto University.)
The Symposium is hosted by Kyoto University under the 21st Century COE Program
"Center for Diversity and Universality of Physics".
The Symposium is supported by
The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP).
Therefore, the SPIN 06 will be conducted in accordance with IUPAP principles
as stated in the ICSU-Document"Universality of Science" (sixth edition, 1989)
regarding the freecirculation of scientists for international purposes.
In particular, no bona fide scientists will be excluded from participation on
the grounds of national origin, nationality,
or political considerations unrelated to science.
Institutional sponsorship includes KEK, RCNP (Osaka University), RIKEN and Yukawa Institute (Kyoto University).
The symposium is also supported by
Commemorative Organization for the Japan World Exposition '70
The Physical Society of Japan
IV. Registration and Accommodations
The registration and hotel reservation page has been prepared at the Spin 2006 home page. Click "Registration and Hotel Reservation". It will guide you through how to register and to reserve hotel.
The registration fee for the symposium is JPY 35,000 until August 15, 2006. The fee covers coffee breaks, computing access, the conference banquet, and the conference proceedings. It does not include accommodations and excursions. We encourage to register early since the late registration fee (after August 15) will be JPY 40,000 .
Rooms are reserved for the symposium participants in the listed hotels. In the registration process, you will be asked to choose one of them.
V. Travel
It would be convenient to fly to Kansai International Airport (KIX).
For this option please refer to
http://www.kyoto-u.ac.jp/english/etop2/e07-top.htm.
Another option would be to fly to Tokyo International Airport
(NRT, Narita Airport).
From Narita Airport, you can either fly to Osaka Airport (ITM)
then take a bus to Kyoto, or take train (Narita Express) to Tokyo station
and take Super Express Train (Shin-kan-sen) "Nozomi" to Kyoto.
It will take about 150 minutes for the former option,
while the latter would take 220 minutes, however with more frequent service.
VI. Visa
Whether or not a visa is necessary in order to enter Japan
depends on nationality.
Please contact your nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate if you are not sure.
The contact information can be found at
http://www.mofa.go.jp/about/emb_cons/over/index.html
If you need a visa please contact us as soon as possible by email.
We will provide you with documents which are necessary
for your visa application.
IMPORTANT: Do not start to apply for a visa until you get the all documents from us.
Please send your message to
spin06@nh.scphys.kyoto-u.ac.jp
with the subject name as follows:
visa: LASTNAME, Firstname
VII. Social Program
Wednesday afternoon is reserved for excursion and personal time. The symposium banquet will be held in the evening of Thursday, October 5, 2006. Details of the option of these events are provided in the registration process.
We are also in a process to compiling accompanying persons programs. Details will be shown in our web site, when the programs are fixed.
